Lining things up
Lining things up is perhaps the most favorite pastime that we know to be common to all children that suffer from autism. If you gave them toys to play with, the child would just line them up and sit watching them work without pride or prejudice. Doctors kind of find this difficult to explain, and parents often just get fed up with the practice, but there is little anyone can do about it without it amounting to abuse. So, let them be, so long as they are happy. I am not very excited about the fact that autistic children are able to do lots things better than or at least the same as regular kids. What beats me is that they are not able to communicate. Genuinely, I think all those savant skills that the kids posses are wasted if the kid never gets to enjoy them or appreciate what they are doing. If you have a sibling or friend who suffers from autism, they must have had it since when they were a baby. Chances are that folks had a lot of trouble with them then too. So he or she is an adult now, which is good; however you cannot have them living alone. Sure they may have improved, and the chances are that there will not be a relapse, but they still need the presence of someone healthy to help with some mundane things that might not be so easy for them. Curing autism is as yet a myth in this world that we live in, despite being backed by years of study and research. However you can help to get the child by contributing what little time and effort you have to helping them re-insert themselves into society. Parents and teachers, doctors and therapists alike all need to contribute to that treatment, helping the kid with new skills and abilities.
